Expectations from FBCN:
- Committed follower of Christ
- Assurance of God's call to pastoral/vocational ministry
- Understands and is pursuing the pastoral qualifications of 1 Timothy 3:1-3 + Titus 1:5-9
- For college students: pursuing a bachelor's degree
- For college graduates: pursuing a master's degree
- Enter the program minimally as a junior in college
- Residents must remain in good academic standing and integrity for the duration of the residency
Expectations of Residents for Program:
- Remain in good academic standing and integrity throughout the pursuit of a bachelor's and/or seminary degree
- Observe all ministry assignments and special events
- 20-hour work week, in addition to serving on Sundays and Wednesday nights
- Be available to assist in other ministries as needed
- Actively participate in all resident development programs
- Willingness to attend kids and student ministry summer church camps/activities
- Attend one ministry conference and participate in an FBCN mission trip
- Full agreement with the beliefs of FBCN and current version of the Baptist Faith & Message
- Adherence to FBCN's Lifestyle Agreement
Objectives of Residents:
- Learn the importance of discipleship through being discipled and mentored by a supervising minister
- Learn evangelism strategies and actively share the Gospel
- Learn practical insight to the different ministries within the church
- Cultivate a servant's heart and use spiritual gifts to help build the local church
- Learn the value of both teamwork and hard work
- Add valuable assistance to the ministry of FBCN
Expectations from FBCN:
- Expose residents to practical training that enhances theological education
- Sermon preparation
- Theological discussions
- Evangelism/Discipleship training
- Pastoral care
- Wedding and Funeral preparation
- Leadership development
- Encourage and help residents grow in their personal walk with the Lord
- Help residents develop a network with other ministers/ministries
- Provide practical opportunities for residents to:
- Understand and develop a church budget
- Attend elder council and deacon's meetings
- Attend personnel and finance team meetings
- Understand annual church planning/calendaring
- Understand and attend member meetings
- Meet with church members to better understand effective ministry from a lay perspective
- Provide opportunities to pursue licensing to ministry
- Upon completion of residency program, provide assistance in pursuing the next place of ministry
